Woman who fainted after she broke a bracelet worth about £34,000
A tourist in China is reported to have fainted after accidentally breaking a jade bracelet worth 300,000 yuan (£34,000).
The woman was visiting a jade market in Ruili City, south western China's Yunnan province on June 27 when she accidentally dropped a bracelet by mistake.
Unfortunately for the woman, the jade bracelet snapped in half.
According to reports, the bracelet slipped out of her hand and it cracked in two after hitting the floor.
Footage shows the moment the woman faints upon learning the price of the bracelet.
Jade is a luxury product in China and is seen to represent good health and a long life.
Following the smash, the shop's owner told her that the bracelet was worth 300,000 yuan (£34,000).
She was reportedly so shocked that she passed out and had to be placed on the ground by family members in order to recover.
According to witnesses, the family offered the seller 70,000 yuan (£8,000) in damages however he refused saying that was not enough for them to break even.
The bracelet was valued by an independent expert to cost around 180,000 yuan (£20,700). The family agreed to pay the owner this sum of money.

The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University tells all students to discard rumours of School hike.
The attention of the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile - Ife, have been drawn to a news item as
published on page 8 of the Sun Newspaper of Tuesday, 27th
June, 2017, captioned: "38 Varsities increase tuition fees,"
where OAU was listed among the Universities that have
increased their tuition fees.
A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University,
Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that although there may be paucity of
funds from the Federal Government in running the Institutions of
higher learning, which might have prompted some Universities
to upwardly review their fees, but the situation in OAU is quite
different. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no meeting, either
of the University management or Senate, where the fee
increment was announced, and the Vice Chancellor of the
University, Professor Tope OGUNBODEDE, has not contemplated
on increasing any fee in OAU. In actual fact, his administration
is poised to making the welfare of staff and students a topmost
priority.
Accordingly, the Vice Chancellor has advised the students, their
parents and, or guardians to completely disregard as unfounded
rumour, the said news item. He added that the administrative
and academic affairs of OAU will not be run in secret, stating
that he will not renege on his pledge of running a very open and
transparent administration.
The release, therefore, urged the gentle men of the press to
crosscheck their facts before publishing stories that are capable
of plunging the Universities into avoidable crisis.

UNILORITES, DISCARD FEE HIKE RUMOUR!!!
UNILORITES, DISCARD FEE HIKE RUMOUR!!!
We want to use this platform to address the lingering rumour in the nation on the purported school fee hike as published recently that our university is part of the 38 schools to upgrade their school fee. In response to this unreasonable publication and rumour, we (Student Union) sought to debunk this news and hear what the University management of UNILORIN through the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun has to say
"The attention of the management of the University of Ilorin has been drawn to news reports in some newspapers today lusting Unilorin among 38 universities that have increased their tuition fees.
We want to state categorically that there is no iota of truth in the report. The university's management has never met to decide on any fees increase because we are still running the 2016/2017 academic session. And in any case, Unilorin, being a federal government institution doesn't charge tuition fees, as tuition is free in public universities. The little charges we collect are for utilities and not for tuition.
So, that report was meant to cause unnecessary panic among Nigerian parents."
In line with the above statement, we want to advice our students not to panic as well debunk this false information.
As always, our determination remains unshakable.

Writers Guild of Unilorin writes as they grieve for the loss of one of their own
It is with heavy ink, lead, paper and phone that we <Writers Guild of UNILORIN> write this to grieve for OLAITAN SHAMSUDEEN BOLAJI — BHEEJAY, who was one of us until the cold hands of death, drowned him from us.
May he rest in peace, eternally.
Death has stung us
The gentle breeze of a sober reflection circled our hearts,
For we heard the sad tale of his demise.
When the joy he sought went sore in a pool of water,
His glorious life he lost in a journey not completed.
Noble dreams

A heart full of life is gone.
I just hope lots of good deeds were done.
Death is a mystery.
For your sake I was ready to bribe.
It's painful I never saw you.
It's painful you died before time.
Its painful, I never made you smile.
God loves you more than we do. Rest in blossom peace of the God.

We detest this plague you have brought on us.
This plague that has crested tears on my face.
In my hearts it's like a boil full of pus.

Abike
Few weeks to the birth of Abike, her Father's corpse was brought home from the forest, Abike grew under the care of her Mother not until she was eight, her mother slept and woke up with her ancestors. It was very tough for Abike especially in the early days of her life. She was maltreated by Iya Loja her guardian who later decided to sell her some years after to travelers who come from Italy. On the Odyssey to Italy they were waylaid by Bandits at the border of Libya, some were murdered, some were raped, Abike was not fortunate enough because she began to feel weak and throw up six weeks after, she was now a slave in Tripoli (Libya).
Two years passed and Abike eavesdropped that her son will be sold to Spain, she devised a means of escape which was successful, back to Nigeria through land they were caught in the midst of fire exchange between Nigerian customs and Smugglers... Just to escape, Abike ran into the bush and couldn't trace her way back to her son and was caught by the customs.
Spending 22 years in jail seem like there is no hope, but Abike still maintained her courtesy, all thanks to the newly elected Governor who granted her amnesty. She explained her ordeal to a fellow amnestied prisoner who was from an influncial background, they decided to help her locate her son. Things were turning out well for Abike when they realized that 6 children were found that day (4girls/2boys). One now a petroleum engineer, the other an Adviser to the Governor.
Things seem like Abike will have a better ending, one shady evening, Abike was at the rooftop of the 2-storeyed building where she live, her friend reported to her "Daddy just callednow and said the DNA result is out, one of the boys is your son". Tears of Joys crawled down her cheeks "things are getting better" she said to herself.
Getting up in excitement Abike missed her step, hit her head against a pillar and fell off the rail of the rooftop smashing her head on a stone in the garden.
